Why this image tool is private

Format conversion happens through the browser's codecs, entirely on your machine. No file is transmitted at any point.

Other tools in this category upload your file to a server, process it in the cloud, and return a download link. That means your document sits on someone else's disk — often with a retention window measured in hours. Here, the file is read by your browser, transformed in memory, and saved straight back to your disk. You can watch it happen in the live check above: the counter for files uploaded stays at zero.

    Frequently asked

    What happens to transparency?
JPG cannot store it, so transparent pixels are filled with the colour you choose. White is the safe default for documents; black or a matching colour can look better on dark designs.
Will the file get smaller or larger?
Usually smaller, because JPG discards detail WebP kept more efficiently. For graphics with flat colour, JPG can look worse, so keep PNG in mind for those.
    What quality should I pick?
Ninety is a good default for images you will examine closely. Lower values shrink further at the cost of visible blocks around edges and text.
    Can I batch convert?
Yes. Add as many WebP files as you like, apply one set of settings, and they come back as a single ZIP.
